Custom Incentives

Not every project fits a standard category. TVA's Custom incentive program is designed for commercial and industrial facilities with unique equipment or process efficiency upgrades. If your project doesn't fit neatly into another category, this is where it belongs.

Per annual kWh saved

Custom incentives are offered at a rate of up to $0.18 per annual kWh saved. Engineering and design costs can be included in the material costs. Savings estimates can be submitted using proprietary spreadsheet calculations with methodology and inputs provided or vetted simulation tools (eQUEST, Trane TRACE, PSAT, etc.).

Non-standard HVAC system retrofits or conversions, including chiller system optimizations or equipment replacements

Hardware-based control systems

Process heating and cooling

Building automation controls

Cool roofs

Compressed air systems

Refrigeration upgrades

Pumps and fans

Process equipment improvements

Requirements for Eligibility

$0.18 per annual kWh saved
Engineering and design costs can be included in the material costs
Eligible projects must be system retrofits
Fuel switching, custom lighting and resistance heat projects are NOT eligible
Subscription-based software is NOT eligible for incentives
Leased equipment is NOT eligible for incentives

Rules & Guidelines

Pre-approval required contact the program to discuss scope of work before application submission
Projects may require pre and post measurement and verification
Must submit detailed scopes of work, spec sheets and calculations
Incentives are capped at 70% of material cost
Projects must meet the minimum Custom incentive requirement of $1,500
Once project is complete, equipment invoices must be submitted within 30 days
